Domatesli Pirinc Pilavi

A simple Turkish pilaf with tomatoes
Ingredients - Serves 4
  • 250 g tomatoes, chopped
  • 1½ cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 50 g butter
  • 2½ cups vegetable stock or water
  • ground black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  1. Melt the butter in a large, nonstick pot
  2. Add the tomatoes and tomato puree and cook till they are soft
  3. Add the rice and fry for 2 minutes on medium heat
  4. Pour in the stock, add salt and black pepper and cook covered till the rice is done
  5. Serve with {Etli Taze Fasulye} or any other similar Turkish side dish
